The days are starting to blur together, but Wednesday I was staying home with Amelia because she was sick on Tuesday and I woke up sick on Wednesday morning. Thursday I went to work because it was a half day and I thought I could handle that. I got home and went right to bed and didn't leave my bed until this morning. I have the flu (the real flu!). I have never been so sick. I didn't even want to watch Mad Men and I could have caught up on so many episodes...
Toby became sick on Thursday and Lucy followed on Friday. Amelia seems to be doing pretty well at this point.
Thursday while I was laying in bed, Sam called me to tell me that he was on his way to the ER in Boston because he had crashed into the side of the rink while ice skating. His mom was able to be with him, thankfully. Turns out his collarbone is broken in multiple places. He has an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon tomorrow to see if he needs surgery. He will be out of work for awhile, which is not going to be easy for us financially, and I think he might die from boredom if the past few days are any indication. He is handling the pain well, but obviously it is not easy for him.
Oh, and Sunshine, our parakeet that we had for 7 years died last week. He was going to get his own post, but in the grand scheme of things now, he was a just a bird. :)
I woke up feeling good this morning and sent many optimistic emails to inquiring people about how I was ready for life again. Then around 1pm, I decided I wasn't. I can't stop coughing. So I'm staying home for another day, and the kids will stay home for another day. And hopefully we can all go back to school on Tuesday.
We have had some lifesavers this weekend. My mother brought lots of groceries, two meals, and all that medicine you see below (because I don't really keep medicine in the house, because we are rarely sick.) Jenny brought a meal, Janice brought a meal, Kerrie brought a meal. Turns out having meals brought is a fabulous thing because I can't imagine what they would have eaten all weekend. Also, we received so many emails, texts, and calls. Thank you!
This is our medicine command center.
