Cooking

After having a couple of weeks off from cooking, with Sam cooking our dinners for us, I was back in the mood.  This weekend I spent time looking through Smitten Kitchen's website (my favorite for recipes) and picking out some new ones.

I made King Arthur Flour Blueberry Buckle Coffeecake  This is one I've made many times.  I do put less sugar in the topping and in the cake.

I made Petite Vanilla Scones, minus the glaze.

I made Seven Layer Bars.

Last night for dinner, I made Broccoli Cheddar Soup and tonight we had Grilled Lamb Kebabs and Tzatziki, but I didn't make kebabs, just put the marinated lamb in the oven.  Delicious.

I have three more recipes picked out, but won't post yet, because perhaps the cooking bug will leave again.

We had the day off yesterday for Presidents' Day.   We had a sledding event at the school for prospective families which Millie and I attended.  This morning I woke up and woke Lucy up to shower and realized I had a missed message from the school, saying we had a two hour delay, so back to bed we went.  That was a nice treat.  Two hours later, I woke up Toby and put his clothes in his bed (like I normally do) and told him that we had a two hour delay.  He replied, "Then why are you putting my clothes in my bed???!!!".  I explained he had already slept through the delay.  He found that disappointing.

Amelia wrote some sentences about what she would be doing when she is 100 years old.  "Living in a nursing home, having 100 surgeries, stuck in a bed, and almost dead."  Cheery.
