Today I took Toby and Amelia to Toys 'R Us to make their Christmas wishlists. Half of one aisle was filled with "Nerf Rebelle: THE sports action brand built specifically for girls". What??!! What makes it built specifically for girls is the fact that it is purple. Appalling. We already have enough to deal with for girls with Lego Friends. Amelia loves these sets. My biggest problem with them is that the biggest set (normally the best, most expensive set) is a shopping mall. Gender specific colors really bother me and I make a point in my classroom to make sure all the students know they are welcome to like and use any color they want!
