Sam met with the surgeon this morning and he made it clear that Sam needs surgery because the pieces of bone are too far apart to join together on their own and his shoulder is shortened because they are overlapped.
He is scheduled to be at the hospital tomorrow at 11:30. The surgery is about 90 minutes long. They will put in a steel plate and attach the pieces of bone to it.
He will be in a sling for 6 weeks. At that point, it will be completely healed. The doctor did say he could go back to work before that on light duty work, no heavy lifting.
The kids and I are heading back to school tomorrow. I'm on prednisone and antibiotics, so all should be well there.
